Fly into Leticia (LET) in Colombia, with direct flights from Bogotá available several times daily. We suggest arriving by 11:30 AM or earlier, and our team will meet you at the airport. On departure day, you can book your flight for any time, but we recommend spending some time exploring Leticia before leaving.
Before traveling to Leticia, ensure you check Colombia’s visa requirements based on your nationality. Many travelers can enter Colombia visa-free for up to 90 days, but it’s always a good idea to confirm with your local embassy or consulate. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay.
Travel insurance is mandatory for this adventure. Your policy should cover medical emergencies, adventure activities, and evacuation if needed. It’s also a good idea to check that your insurance includes coverage for trip cancellations, delays, or lost belongings, giving you peace of mind during your journey.
A yellow fever vaccine is strongly recommended for travel to the Amazon. Additional vaccinations, such as hepatitis A and typhoid, are also advisable. Speak with your doctor or a travel clinic at least six weeks before your trip to ensure you’re up to date and prepared for your Amazon adventure.
The Amazon is beautiful all year, but each season offers something different:
Dry Season (July to November): Perfect for hiking and spotting wildlife on land.
Wet Season (December to June): Great for exploring the flooded forests by boat or canoe.
The Amazon is full of amazing creatures! You might see pink dolphins, sloths, monkeys, toucans, caimans, and a variety of exotic birds and insects. Wildlife sightings can vary depending on the season and location.
It’s a good idea to get vaccinated before visiting the Amazon. A yellow fever shot is strongly recommended. Other vaccines, like hepatitis A and typhoid, are also helpful. Talk to your doctor for advice, and consider taking malaria prevention medication.
Packing smart is important for an Amazon adventure. Bring:
Lightweight, breathable clothes

The Amazon is hot and humid all year. Temperatures usually range from 77–86°F (25–30°C). The wet season has more rain, while the dry season is slightly cooler and less humid.
Swimming can be safe in certain spots, but always follow your guide’s advice. Avoid areas with strong currents or potential wildlife hazards, and stick to designated swimming areas.
Electricity in the Amazon is limited. Some lodges and camps use solar power or generators, which may only run for a few hours each day. Bring a power bank if you need to charge devices.
Most parts of the Amazon have no internet or phone service. It’s a great chance to unplug and enjoy nature. Some lodges may offer limited Wi-Fi, but it’s not guaranteed.
