Arrive in Leticia, where your guide will be waiting at the airport. Take a short taxi ride before starting a hike to the Wairuru community by the Tacana River. Enjoy a traditional meal to recharge, then take a refreshing swim in the river. In the afternoon, join a culinary workshop. As the sun sets, head out for a night walk to see the jungle come alive. Look for glowing plants and insects and, if lucky, spot the green frog (Kamboo). End the evening sitting with elders, hearing their stories and traditions.

Wake up to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy breakfast before learning about the Mojojoi worm—where it lives and how it’s eaten. If available, you can even try it raw or fried! Later, help with basket weaving, or take time to relax and swim in the river. After lunch, travel further up the Tacana River to meet Don Pijachi and Doña Shasha. Learn about the Chagra (community garden) and how local families grow food in the rainforest. Try fishing the traditional way and spend the evening sharing stories with the family.

Spend the day with your hosts, joining them in their daily chores and meal preparation. Learn to make traditional foods like Casabe, Tucupi, and Fariña, staple ingredients in the Amazon. Watch and help as they prepare meals the way their ancestors did. This is a day of full immersion into the life of the Amazon.

After breakfast, hike back to the main road, where transportation will take you back to Leticia. Enjoy a delicious Yucuna-style lunch and spend the afternoon exploring Parque Santander or relaxing at your hotel. Enjoy your final dinner at one of Leticia’s best restaurants.

Fly into Leticia (LET) in Colombia, with direct flights from Bogotá available several times daily. We suggest arriving by 11:30 AM or earlier, and our team will meet you at the airport. On departure day, you can book your flight for any time.
Before traveling to Leticia, ensure you check Colombia’s visa requirements based on your nationality. Many travelers can enter Colombia visa-free for up to 90 days, but it’s always a good idea to confirm with your local embassy or consulate. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay.
Travel insurance is mandatory for this adventure. Your policy should cover medical emergencies, adventure activities, and evacuation if needed. It’s also a good idea to check that your insurance includes coverage for trip cancellations, delays, or lost belongings, giving you peace of mind during your journey.
A yellow fever vaccine is strongly recommended for travel to the Amazon. Additional vaccinations, such as hepatitis A and typhoid, are also advisable. Speak with your doctor or a travel clinic at least six weeks before your trip to ensure you’re up to date and prepared for your Amazon adventure.
Packing Essentials
Lightweight, breathable clothing, comfortable hiking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. Don’t forget a flashlight or headlamp and personal medications. We will send a complete packing list once your trip is confirmed.

The Amazon is hot and humid year-round, with temperatures typically between 77–86°F (25–30°C). Be prepared for occasional rain, especially during the wet season (December–June).
Food Note
Meals will feature traditional Amazonian ingredients, often fish-based. Please let us know in advance if you have dietary restrictions or allergies.
Accommodation & Comfort
Accommodation is in hammocks for most nights. In the Wairuru community there are showers adn toilets, however, when we stay at the local family there is no running water. They use a compost toilet and bath in the river. Please be aware to only use biodegradable products.
Do I need prior cooking experience?
No, our cooking workshops are beginner-friendly and hands-on.
Will there be electricity?
Electricity is limited in some locations, with lodges often using solar power or generators. Bring a power bank if you need to charge devices.
Is there internet or phone service?
Internet and phone service are very limited in the jungle. This is an opportunity to unplug and fully enjoy the experience.
Packing smart is important for an Amazon adventure. Bring:
